PTFE WIRE & CABLES

Few notable properties of P.T.F.E. Insulation are as under

1. Non-Flamability:

The Insulation is fire (Flame) proof i.e. non-flamable.
• Excellent thermal stability -- suitable for use from -
65°C to +260°C
• Soldering iron resistant and suitable for high density wiring

2. Flexibility:

P.T.F.E. wires are manufactured with best available stranded Copper/Silver Plated Copper wires giving better flexibility for comfortable use in the wiring.
• Smaller size and much higher reliability
• Cold-flow and cut-through resistance -- fair (good mechanical strength)

3. Weather Resistance:

The insulation have not shown any notable changes in it’s electrical, mechanical or chemical properties even after out door exposure for over 20 years. It is also unaffected by exposure to ultraviolet rays.

4. Chemical Resistance:

Insulation is inert to virtually all known Acids, chemicals and solids.
• Excellent Resistance to Ultra-Violet radiation and stress-cracking
• Resistant to fungus and mould growth
• Non-contaminating
• Non-toxic and bio-compatible

5. Electrical Stability:

Insulation electrical properties do not change even after long-term heat aging. Insulation has low dielectric constant and dissipation factor, it’s high dielectric strength and insulation resistance shows minimum changes over wide temperature, frequency and voltage fluctuations.
• Lowest dielectric constant (2.1)
• Suitable for very wide frequency range over wide temperature range
• Highest volume and surface resistivities (in Teraohms)
• Corona Resistance is fair (CR PTFE is available for severe corona conditions)
• Lowest diss Test voltages for the three common working voltages are:

Space Saving:

P.T.F.E. wires is of less O.D. for the same current carrying capacity of PVC Insulated wires, thus saves space to facilitate more no. of insulated wires in the same conduit. It’s smooth surface also facilitates easy conduit pull.

We defined few properties as above, but PTFE Insulated wires have more unique properties such as antistic, non-contaminating, non-toxic, resistant to fungus, non-wet, resistant to impact, tearing, abrasion, cut-through and cold-flow etc.

APPLICATIONS OF PTFE INSULATED WIRES & CABLES

• Furnace and oven wiring
• High performance motors, transformers and rectifiers
• Thermo-couple and compensating cables
• Air-field lighting equipment
• Equipment for Aircraft, Radar, Research Equipment for Aerospace, Navy & Meteorology
   Electro-mechanical applications, Satellites
• Process Control, Telephone Exchange Satellite Launching, Ground Control, Reactors and
   Control Equipment for Atomic Energy.
• Computers, Flight simulators
• Electronic Test Equipment
• Communication Equipment
• Infra-red sensing equipment
• High temperature lighting fittings
• Neuro-surgical/ Electro-medical equipment
• Refrigeration equipment
• Load cells and pressure transducers
   Electro-mechanical applications, Satellites

CAUTION

• Thin-wall insulation is not recommended for higher soldering iron temperatures and for gauges larger than AWG 20
• Stripping of Tape-Wrapped-Sintered (TWS) PTFE insulation is generally difficult on automatic high-speed machines, more so, for thin-wall finer sizes
